Assvice please!

Julius bit me while breastfeeding, and because I wasn't expecting it, I jumped a mile and screamed. Then he screamed.

It took a while but he calmed down and we snuggled and he was happy. Until I went to feed him tonight before bed.

He screamed in terror everytime I went near him with my breast. He completely refused to go near me. My husband had to put him down.

Nursing Strike maybe? The question is, now what the hell do I do?

Help?!?!

  1. The first thing that popped into my headcame to mind was "Put a blanket over your head when you offer the boob!" Heh, it's late. Can you tell?

But seriously, it's too soon to say if you're in for a nursing strike. See how he acts when he wakes at night or in the morning. Sleepy and ravenous may trump scared from the scream.

  2. Yep, I'm sure you can tell it's late. Sorry for the lack of grammar/erasing in the previous comment!

  3. When my older son bit me, I remember shouting "ouch!" and it made him cry. He seemed to get over it fairly quickly.

I hope he is better for you this morning. If not, maybe just try rocking with him in your lap together for a bit. Then maybe rock him and hold him just wearing your bra. Then maybe the third time try to nurse. Just take baby steps.

    (((hugs)))

  4. Oy! When Monkey bit me, I had just read about that, so I was able to not jump, though I did yelp. And then I told her no, and looked stern, and then we went from there, and it was ok eventually. The Cub seems to be teething, so he chowed down a few times already. Not too bad yet, but I feel like I may yet do the jumping... Long way of saying sorry... and I really don't have much advice, but lots of sympathy.

  5. I would go with the lots of holding w/out feeding, then chest to chest and then boob like above. It never took mine long to forget my yelping at bites.

  6. He seems little more happy now, and is more willing to take the breast this morning, but he keeps looking at me like he's suspicious.

Anyway, I'll let you all know how tonight goes.
